Pro wrestling fans will watch live TV and online matches as part of the WWE Elimination Chamber 2014 pay-per-view this Sunday, February 23rd. With WrestleMania 30 just weeks away, and the new WWE network launching a night later, the Target Center in Minneapolis will be buzzing with excitement. Among the superstars competing will be John Cena, Daniel Bryan, Sheamus, Batista, The Shield, The Wyatt Family and current WWE World Heavyweight champion, Randy Orton!
A live online pre-show will kick things off at 7:30 p.m. EST with a free tag team match featuring Cody Rhodes and Goldust against Curtis Axel and Ryback. Fans will be able to watch this half hour show live online via various WWE sources including their YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, website and other options. That leads right into the main pay-per-view, which starts on cable/satellite TV and live online sources at 8 p.m. EST with some major matches on the way. Let’s dissect the favorites to win.
Randy Orton will put his WWE championship on the line against John Cena, Sheamus, Daniel Bryan, Cesaro and Christian inside the Elimination Chamber. In this match, there are four superstars locked inside pods around the ring, with two other superstars starting the match off. Every so often, a pod will open, releasing another of the superstars into the match! Competitors are eliminated via pinfall or submission, until just one man remains. That man will leave the PPV as WWE Champion and go on to defend the title at WrestleMania 30! Right now, the odds favor current champion Randy Orton at -750, while “the field” of other competitors is set at +450.
One of the other huge matches on this pro wrestling event’s card will be The Wyatt Family vs. The Shield in a six man tag team match. The Wyatt Family are currently -750 favorites, while The Shield are underdogs at +450. Most fans wouldn’t expect Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins to be called “underdogs” in any match, but fans have a feeling this team might be headed for a breakup during this match. If that’s the case, it could give Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan the advantage to win this one!
Batista is the biggest favorite to win his match at -1500 vs. Alberto Del Rio who is an underdog at +700. It seems a foregone conclusion that “The Animal” Batista will win this one, since he’s already scheduled to challenge for the WWE championship at WrestleMania 30 in early April. Batista won the 2014 Royal Rumble which gave him that title match, but first he needs to take care of business against a guy who’s been continually launching insults and threats towards him. Does Del Rio have enough to pull off a major upset against one of WWE’s biggest superstars?
Of course there’s three other matches on the card fans will enjoy on the live PPV:
Jack Swagger (+350) vs. Champion Big E (-530) for the Intercontinental Title
The Usos (-140) vs. champions New Age Outlaws (+100) for the WWE Tag Team Titles
The Rhodes Brothers (-400) vs. Curtis Axel & Ryback (+280) (tag team match)
It’s surprising to see The Usos as slight favorites over the legends and current tag champs, New Age Outlaws in the tag team title match. However, this could finally be The Usos moment to shine and capture those titles that have eluded them for such a long time. Meanwhile, The Rhodes Brothers are looking to take care of business as part of the pre-show, while Big E is very likely to defend and retain his title against Jack Swagger in their first IC title match.
The 2014 WWE Elimination Chamber with live online and televised matches promises to be one of the biggest events of the year in pro wrestling. It all helps pave the “Road to WrestleMania 30” which started with the Royal Rumble. Fans won’t want to miss out on this live pay-per-view whether they watch through WWE’s options for cable or satellite TV, or live online viewing!
