2016 NFL Predictions, Division & Super Bowl 2017 Odds

By | August 16, 2016

It may only be August, but already NFL predictions are coming out as fans and Las Vegas gamblers are already day dreaming about Super Bowl 51. If you have interest in trying to predict the next NFL champion, and make some cash while doing so, right now is the best time to get in on the action. No matter what team you believe will win Super Bowl 51, now is the time to make an investment.

Every team is at great odds right now, including the favorites.

While all 32 teams are not equal,  there will be a team or two that will shock us all. Trust me, it ALWAYS happens. Last year the Carolina Panthers were listed at 40-1 to win Super Bowl 50 — and they almost pulled it off! Sure, it is always easy to say the Patriots will play the Packers in Super Bowl 51, after all they are the top two favorites on the Vegas odds board and they just so happen to be led by Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers – two of the best quarterbacks in the NFL.

Sure, those picks look like a sure thing now, however, history will likely prove that those two will not be meeting in Super Bowl 51. So which long shots will be standing this January when the post season begins? Let’s break it down.

NFC East

  • Dallas Cowboys +120
  • New York Giants  +250
  • Washington Redskins  +350
  • Philadelphia Eagles  +500

Last year the Redskins won the NFC East, yet they aren’t getting much love from Vegas. Dallas has come in the past five years as “the team to beat in the East,” yet they never are. The Giants and Redskins are the beasts of the East this year, with Big D and Philly on the outside looking in.

NFC North

  • Green Bay Packers  +150
  • Minnesota Vikings   +220
  • Chicago Bears    +1000
  • Detroit Lions      +800

Every year for seemingly a decade it is the same old story in the NFC North. Who will beat Green Bay and Aaron Rodgers? This year the North isn’t a gimme for Green Bay. The Vikings and Lions should be improved from a year ago and this division may not be decided until Week 17. Surprise! This North will be won by Minnesota – or Detroit.

NFC South

  • Carolina Panthers  -275
  • Atlanta Falcons +450
  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers  +700
  • New Orleans Saints    +750

The South is clearly the Panthers’ to lose, However, never underestimate QB’s Matt Ryan and Drew Brees. They can take average teams and make them great.

NFC West

  • Seattle Seahawks -125
  • Arizona Cardinals  +175
  • Los Angeles Rams    +800
  • San Francisco 49ers  +2200

Seattle and Arizona are the class of the NFC West, and that shouldn’t change. The Seahawks have been so dominate at home over the past four seasons, the Cardinals will be playing for home field advantage starting in Week 1. Like a good horse race, the Cards and Hawks will be neck and neck down the stretch.

AFC East

  • New England Patriots     -220
  • New York Jets   +550
  • Buffalo Bills         +450
  • Miami Dolphins +850

J-E-T-S…JETS! JETS! JETS! Okay, I love saying that. They have no chance to win the East or make the AFC championship, but that chant is great. New England wins it again.

AFC North

  • Pittsburgh Steelers +100
  • Cincinnati Bengals   +180
  • Baltimore Ravens    +300
  • Cleveland Browns   +4000

My good friend Pete would bet big on the Browns if this were a horse race. You always bet the longest shot in a four-horse race. Pete has collected thousands that way. Well, this is the NFL, so if you happen to wager on Cleveland, please consider donating to charity first. That way your money actually will go to a good cause and not to a Vegas sports book. Pitt and Cinncy battle it out again for another crown. The Steelers win out in the end.

AFC South

  • Indianapolis Colts    +125
  • Houston Texans  +180
  • Jacksonville Jaguars  +300
  • Tennessee Titans  +1200

If the Colts stay healthy, they should win the AFC South, however Brock Osweiler is the X-factor. The Texans have longed for a reliable QB the past five seasons. They may have finally found him in Osweiler.

AFC West

  • Kansas City Chiefs     +160
  • Oakland Raiders    +200
  • Denver Broncos   +240
  • San Diego Chargers  +750

Denver +240 coming off of a Super Bowl win? With that defense, I will take my chance on another AFC West title. KC shouldn’t be the favorite.
